Tracey Amara Thompson has built her career on firsts.
Prior to becoming the first full-time hire at SoGal Ventures, she was the first full-time hire for Will Packer Media, a television and digital media company with first-look deals at networks including the Oprah Winfrey Network. During her time at Will Packer Media, she worked on fundraising, acquisition, and portfolio management strategy. Prior to that, she pitched and launched the first digital marketing division at Will Packer Productions, where she managed internal strategy for projects such as Girls Trip – the first movie by a black cast and crew to cross $100 Million.
She started her Venture Capital career as an intern at SoGal Ventures and later worked in the Venture Capital arm at a family office in the entertainment industry, where she has worked on deals that built legacies of firsts for founders, their communities, and their cultures.
Outside of her career in Entertainment and Venture Capital, Tracey worked in Financial Services Advisory at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, helping to guide banks on financial and digital strategy in alignment with post-recession regulations.
Tracey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston University School of Management with a degree in Finance and Marketing. She is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School, where she was a Rock Venture Partner and Co-President of the Black Investment Club. Under her leadership, the club raised first-time sponsorship from 10 corporate partners, created a mentorship program with Girls Who Invest, and launched the Inaugural Black Investment Club Conference – one of the most successful conference launches in the school’s history.
As a Vice President at SoGal, Tracey is eager to fund the next era of firsts.
